One of the best things about being a photographer is meeting inspiring people. There’s been one or two I’ve run across over the past two decades that didn’t inspire much beyond deep feelings of annoyance. But those delicate flowers, in contrast, only serve to make the light shine brighter on those more deserving. And this young lady is certainly more deserving.
Ana De La O was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico and moved to the USA a few years ago at her father’s suggestion. He had lived in the USA for many years and wanted her to have that experience. It was a selfless act on his part and something only a loving father would do for his daughter. She loves America and has built a good life here, but the distance from home and family is painful. Her sadness was impossible to hide when she told me how much she missed them.
Ana describes her home and growing up there with an inescapable warmth, “It is a beautiful city with amazing food and rich in culture. Growing up, I never lacked anything. My parents were not wealthy, but they always made sure we had everything we needed. I had a beautiful childhood and amazing memories that every time I feel sad, I can look back and smile.”
Ana is young and beautiful and while so many that come to Las Vegas end up heading in a different direction; she is up before dawn and in the gym each morning then off to her corporate job.
She has fallen in love with competing in fitness shows, and since discovering the WPC, she has a newfound passion for modeling as well. This was our first shoot together, and she told me she couldn’t wait to do more. I have to agree with her.
Ana De La O will be competing in WPC2 August 18th in Las Vegas. Click on the link for tickets or to register to compete.
